As
a follow up to Singin’ in the Rain, Phoenix
produced King and I as its
next venture in Korea. Pulling once again from
global resources, the set was imported from
the West End production in the U.K. and the
original Broadway costumes were secured from
the U.S. Charlie Morrison, who lit the recent
U.S. tour, was brought over to re-create his
design overseas. King and I was
presented at the LG Arts Centre in Seoul (one
of the cities premier performing arts venues).
This production incorporated an all Asian cast
and, for the first-time, an all Asian crew
under supervision from an American contingent. Directed
by Sam Viverito, this production was a visually
stunning epic. |
