Fame, which
opened in the fall of 2003, was a fresh re-invention
of the musical stage version of the production
made famous by the 1980’s movie of the
same name. Directed by Bill Castellino,
Fame is a coming of age story set in the aging
New York City High School of the Performing
Arts during the last years of tenure in the
original building. Based on a concept
from the movie, but not a staged version of
the screenplay, Fame featured dual, rotating
three-story towers in a design by Walt Spangler.
With stunning lighting by Mike Baldassari and
costumes by Fabio Toblini, this production
dazzled audiences with it’s fresh take
on the popular musical. |
